Dulzura was founded on the belief that not all cups of coffee are made equal. From tin dried instant scoops to the lush and flavourful fresh roasted beans of Colombia, everyone has their own unique palate, so everyone has a coffee to match. What Dulzura strives for, is to showcase the best single-origin coffee beans that Colombia has to offer – and we want you to be a part of that journey so you can enjoy the best of the best Colombian coffee and find that special bean for you.

 

 Our Journey

We started like most people, drinking coffee for the energy hit, then as we pondered of what other flavours were abounds we began a tasting journey trying all we could. As our experience grew, so did our palate, changing from being accustomed from the taste of tin dried coffee to the elixir of the fresh and rich roasted beans. Our search then reached outwards, what is hard to find, what can’t we get in Australia? Soon we were tasting some of the smoothest and most lively coffees we’ve ever had, all brought over from Colombia by our Colombian friends. Most of these weren’t available in Australia, so we decided to start Dulzura, so you too can enjoy the best coffee that Colombia has to offer.

 

 How Colombian coffee beans get their unique flavour

The flavour experience generated by Colombian coffees is heavily influenced by the altitude it’s grown at, the rich volcanic soils it sprouts from and the climate that it grows within. This is unlike many other coffees. This is because Colombian beans are processed in a unique way where the beans are actually washed during the preparation process. This is done to reduce acidity and purify the beans. With a washed coffee, you are tasting the coffee itself – the origin, the coffee variety, the terroir – and not the impact of the processing method. Other processing types, notably natural and honey, add body and often a fruity flavour to the coffees, creating a dramatically different flavour profile than a washed coffee. With the washed process you get the pure intrinsic flavours from the bean, this is why it is best suited to coffees with a great taste profile. It results in clean acidity – that lively, fruity characteristic that so many specialty coffee lovers find delightful. That’s why you’ll be able to find richness and balance in every sip.

 

The environment

Our providers have the environment at the forefront of their mind, just as we do here at Dulzura. Every packet, pod and satchel from our suppliers is made from recycled materials or is ready to be recycled. Each of them have their own strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
